Notes
Built by Mal Clarbrough, Ken Joyce & Ian Whitehouse in 1977 at Mount Cook village & flown to the site in four loads to be pieced together over four days. The hut was named after Katie Gardiner, a leading woman climber of her era & the ninth woman to climb Aoraki Mt Cook in the season of 1928/29, aged 42. Katie died in 1974, aged 88. It was removed in March, 2015, as the hut was wrecked by a massive rock fall in July, 2014. Edit Hut
