It has 16 bunks and the category of Standard Hut.It was a Lockwood designed hut built in early 1971 by Tony Perrett & co. It had a main room, two separate bunk-rooms & a good wood stove. It was accidentally burnt down in June, 2005. The hut was replaced in 2007 by a larger hut 20 minutes up the valley, see ‘Hawdon Hut’. Only the blackened stumps of the piles of this hut remain. The hut had a radio that was connected to the Arthurs Pass Visitor Centre.Location:
