approached Hut from slip flat OK. route notes advised descending Home Hill spur to Birchdale. trapped by bluffs at 700m & found our way off with difficulty. Someone I met a few days later said he tried to go up that way and couldn't get past the bluffs. the best route to/from the Caples could be on the spur directly below the Hut. There's a taped trail through beech forest leading to forks

Cosy, tidy, well stocked dirt floor hut. With new mattresses and.. pillows!!
