Please take note of the comment the track starts very close to the Doc sign. Do not be fooled and head east up the fenceline to the tussock knob, like I did! Fantastic hut. Only hut I've ever been to that had a solar light in the toilet! Thanks NZDA.

Great new hut, super warm, needs more fire wood but other than that was such a fun adventure with kids.

4th attempt at a trip to the hut, finally things went right. Great spot, hopefully will be well respected. Currently *must* book prior - managed by Nth Otago branch, New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association. Composting toilet w/ solar-powered lighting - 1 of the best I've come across. (despite note, barely any cellphone reception at hut itself - none inside, but can get 1 bar beside the toilet!)

The lower carpark leads to the Glencoe Scenic Reserve. The upper carpark is where both legs of the hut circuit lead from. You can either go up to the Mt Misery Rd, then down the unmarked tussocked spur to the hut or you can take the DoC track down to the river then climb 160m up to the hut. No online booking yet

Great hut! We got confused by signs and parked at the lower carpark - keep driving as far till the road end if you can. A bit weird that the payment and booking information pinned to the wall isn't available online anywhere, but excellent to have more huts nearby Otepoti!

Awesome wee hut. See they just have to put the fire place flu in and build a deck. Takes about an hour from the parking bay end of the road taking the rough marked track. Warning very steep.
