As per Derrick Field's 1966 photo, this was an old hunters hut, that is now derelict, with only the roof remaining, albeit lying on the ground. There are two long drop & a meat safe there still. In August, 2024, 'SimonJ' reports meeting two elderly deer stalkers at 'Mangatoetoe Hut'. Both chaps were in their 70's, & they recall as teenagers driving land rovers up the true right of Mangatoetoe Stream, via a series of farm tracks & the stream bed. The hut site is on private land & permission to visit must be obtained in advance.Location:
