Notes
Joe Hansen reports it was built as a shelter in 1977. In February, 1978, Joe, alongside fellow NZFS employees Mario Geremia, Chris Fisher & Baldy Tilsley, converted the shelter into a hut. It is maintained by volunteers from the TARHC (see https://gwbn.org.nz/our-huts/mangatoetoe-hut/) who have recently replaced the skylight, cleaned & repaint the interior, filled holes in the floor, fixed a window & spouting, & fixed & cleaned out the water tank. They hope to replace the open fire with an internal firebox & tidy up the hut exterior. Edit Hut
