Designed by Bob King in conjunction with the fishing club & Christchurch Tramping Club (CTC). Built in 1976 by members from the CTC & Lake Daniell Fishing Club. It was the third of four huts on the south/ south western terrace. It was removed in 2018 & replaced with the 'Kōhanga Atawhai - Manson Nicholls Hut', which was open for use, from March, 2020. The hut was named in honour of Phillip Nicholls, & Brian & Sharon Manson, who were killed by a landslide during Easter, 1974, while sheltering in the second of the four huts, 'Lake Daniell Fishing Club Hut'.
