Built in 1905 by Fred Mason to house a water race maintenance worker. Racemen were employed by mining companies to maintain the race to ensure a steady supply of water for operations. April, 2024, saw a DOC Invercargill crew, led by John Airey, fully restore this historic hut, with the timber generously donated by local Tuatapere sawmill 'Lindsay & Dixon'. Edit Hut

Loads of us were here for the night and the little bench infront of the Hut isn't quite wide enough for people to cook. Very cute historical hut

Reasonable space for camping outside the hut - maybe 2-4 spots for a tent, dependent on size?
