Built in the 1960's by the NZFS as a standard S81 4-bunk design with an open fire, it is lined with the original tar paper. The floor, piles, joists & bearers were all replaced in a 2009 working bee & the fire hearth was re-concreted. The cupboard & wood box vestibule were removed during the renovations. The bunks are wire-netting with new DOC fireproof mattresses. A small woodshed was built in 2013, using materials salvaged from the renovations. The hut was repainted & the clearing enlarged in 2014.
