It has 3 bunks and the category of Backcountry Hut.This was a Canterbury Mountaineering Club biv built in 1945. It sat beside the old track which sidled the true left of the Mingha River about 80m above where the current (2018) track is. The old track remains distinguishable if you know where to find it. Brian Renwick reports passing the biv in about 1968 & he states it was in poor condition then. It was removed after October, 1974 at least.Location:

I can remember a bivvy still being about this spot in 1975? It was built by the CMC in the 40's and removed later in the 70's. It was the Goat Pass Bivvy but was generally known as the Mingha Bivvy. (a bit confusing once there was another Mingha Bivvy further downstream)
