The location is approximate as it was never officially on any maps or had any official tracks leading to it. It was on what staff called 'Arena Ridge' as there were a number of track & bowl systems used by Kakapo near by. The hut was a home-away-from-home, with gas heated hot water for the shower. In the late 1980's when Kakapo were transferred to Whenua Hou / Codfish Island, the hut was removed & relocated to become Big Hellfire Hut on the North West Circuit.Location:
