Built in 1985 the hut was originally set up by Stan Peterson for use in his guided hunting business. When Stan gave his hut to the Safari Club (SCI) it got a major restoration by Gary Mullings & co., including new roof trusses, roof ply, roofing iron & the addition of a small front extension as a drying room. Easter, 2022, saw David Keen lead volunteers from SCI & NZDA South Canterbury paint the exterior, install stainless steel tie-downs, & set deadman anchors in concrete. The tie downs on the toilet were replaced & the door repainted. A solar panel & battery was fitted along with internal & porch LED lights, plus USB ports for charging electronic gadgets. Stan is now retired, but his hut is still available for people to use. The hut is now managed by DOC. Edit Hut
