Construction was overseen by Neil Harris, & all the piles, cement & builders mix was carried in from the end of Springs Road, across farmer Pritchard’s land, through the kauri groves & up to the hut site. Once the piles were set, the prefabricated hut was loaded onto a truck & driven to Schuler’s quarry at the base of the Kaimai, where it was flown to site.Location:

Via Moututapere, via the Ribbon Track (challenging), then North South Track (easy) to this lovely clean, spacious and comfortable hut in a great spot.

Sink/water tap is just outside the hut. Decent campsite area outside the hut + 2 minutes down the track.
