With the establishment of Hakatere CP, DOC have taken over management of the hut, refurbishing it. It's canvas bunks have been replaced with slats & DOC-style mattresses. It has a concrete floor & the walls are lined with a reflective material. It has a lovely big table. Late October, 2023, saw NZDA Ashburton branch volunteers replace the ridge capping & suntuff clear light.Location:
