Built by the NZFS in 1976, this is the second of two Top Robinson huts in the vicinity. At some point, the open fire has been replaced with a wood burner. The first hut was a 4-bunk, Internal Affairs Dept hut, located slightly downstream. Refer to 'Top Robinson Hut (old)'. Edit Hut

Great hut. Robinson Saddle tops are beautiful. Great camp spots. Sub-alpine scrub on either side is a bit rubbish. 4 - 5 hrs from Lake Christabel or 4 hours from Mid Robinson.

The original Robinson Hut remains were visible back in 2010 a little downstream close to the river. (the site was being eroded by the river) This original Robinson hut was a 4 bunker with all timber features cut from the bush.
