This is the second 'Waerenga Hut' to be built by the Tararua Tramping Club (TTC). It was built in 1961 & is owned by the TTC. It can be booked for $10 per night. The hut was shifted to is current site in 2009, after it was undermined by massive floods on 31 March, 2005. After moving it to the new site, members built the deck & veranda. Edit Hut

Just went back to see it December 2024. Looked pretty nice from looking in on the outside. It was spacious.
