Built in 1967 / 1968 by members of the Waikato Tramping Club. A veranda was built in the summer of 1985 / 1986. The hut burnt down on Easter Saturday, 2002. All that remained was a pile of iron. Edit Hut

I'm sorry to hear that the hut is gone it was a really neat hut and very easy to walk into from the road.

REALLY good camping here, 3-4 well constructed camp sites in the trees around the old hut clearing.
