The second of two huts on the site. The first hut, 'Washpool Hut (old)', was severely damaged by a large tree in 1968 & it was subsequently demolished & replaced in 1968 by this S70 NZFS hut. In early 2022, volunteers from the exNZFS group, Bruce Wenden, Michael Wilkinson & Steve Algar, refurbished the hut, cleaning & painting both the interior & exterior.
