The date 'Young Hut No. 2' was built is unknown, but Bruce Reay recalls staying in it, in December, 1976. 'Young Hut No. 2' was removed in 2006, as the site was deemed to be avalanche-prone. I believe this hut was in existence in 1976 as I was working for MANP at the time and got flown up to Gillespies Pass to put in waratahs to mark the track .
