Notes
The second of three huts, this replaced the original Leask-built beach cottage. The second, albeit basic & cramped hut, was built by the Lands & Survey Dept. The hut had an open fire which smoked regardless of where the wind came from. In 1998, using more floatsam, members of the Southland branch of the NZDA modified it, adding on 1.5 metres & installed windows & a potbelly stove. It was eventually demolished & replaced in 2008 by the Rakiura Hunter Camp Trust. Edit Hut
