Who or when, & for what purpose this hut was built is uncertain, but what is known, is that it was occupied by Joe Driscoll from 1948 to 1960. He was a roadman on the Coppermine end of the Paringa Cattle Track. After 1960, the cattle were trucked out over the newly completed Haast Pass Road. The hut is open but now derelict, with one missing window & a broken open wall. The hut used to to have 4 bunks but one of the bunks has been removed, as well as the mattresses. The open-sided verandah was added at a later date (see Peter Livingstone's photo). Edit Hut
