Built in 1966 or 1968, it was the second of two Ketetahi huts. It was extensively overhauled in 1985. On 6 August, 2012, the Upper Te Maari Crater erupted & flying boulders punched holes in the roof & floor of the hut which was about 1.5km distant from the crater. The hut was subsequently closed due to the damage. Photos show the damage after the eruption, after which it was down-graded to a day shelter only. By 2019, the remains of the hut / day shelter had been removed & only the toilets & wood shed remain. Edit Hut
