Built in the spring of 1958 by the Nelson branch of the NZFS. Jock Fisher reports Luna, was 1 of a group of 4, which were the first NZFS huts flown in by helicopter on 18 August, 1958. They were designed by the NZFS Nelson conservancy building overseer Phil McConchie. The huts were pre-cut at Golden Downs workshop, stacked at Karamea & flown in by the Christchurch-based Braziers Air Works in a Bell 47. Luna Hut sat on the true right of the Karamea River at a site near the present Trevor Carter Hut, which replaced it. It was removed (flown out) in 2003 & now resides on Hancock Farm, Tapawera. It was NZFS hut #431. Edit Hut
