Notes
Built between 1940-1941 from manuka poles & flattened kerosene tins. Thee were carried in from Eastbourne, by John Farrell, Don Oliver & Jack Logie. It is one of the oldest huts standing in the valley. To get to the hut at that time, the men, living in Wellington, would travel by ferry to Eastbourne, tramp to the Orongorongo Valley via Butterfly Creek & Jacksons farm, then along the 5 mile track & Browns Track before cutting across the river.
