Built in 1968 by the NZFS as a S70 6-bunk design with an open fire, it is hut #574. It is named after an early surveyor who perished along with Hugh Thompson in a snow storm on Fowler Pass in 1886. Mt Paske & the Paske Valley were named after him. The hut was painted by DOC in February, 2000. Edit Hut
Cool to see a 24 year old hut book still in this hut, it was fill so wasn't able to sign it, most visits seem to be coming from the tops via Lake Tennyson.
