Originally called 'New Hut' as it was the last hut built in this mustering-block by Mesopotamia Station. It became known as 'Royal Hut' after a visit by members of the royal family in the 1960's. On the day of the 'royal visit', Laurie Prouting, then a young man, climbed a hill in order to play the bagpipes as the helicopter flew in. Unfortunately, the pilot did not fly up the intended valley & the royals never got to hear Laurie's bagpipes. Edit Hut
