Notes
Owned by the Canterbury Mountaineering Club (CMC). It was built in 1959 as a replacement for the older Havelock Hut (built in 1936 by the Erewhon branch of the CMC. It was located below the Forbes River). In 2004 a large work party added a covered porch entrance & extensively upgraded the hut to include a mountain radio with selcal, solar lighting, a fresh water tank, & a fully enclosed outside toilet. A set of The Canterbury Mountaineer was installed in April 2012. Edit Hut

Really nice historic hut, well maintained and with a lot of character. The hut is equipped with solar panels and LED lighting. The only problem is that the back wall of the wood stove appears to be made of asbestos and is quite damaged.

Well maintained with triple height bunks. Actually, now has 8 bunks as one third-level bunk has been removed.
