Notes
DOC builder Mario Geremia designed the hut & DOC rangers built it in 1993 as a replacement for 'Tarn Ridge Hut (old) / Basil Blatchford Memorial Hut' , which was located a further 1.5km north along Tarn Ridge. For more information see https://gwbn.org.nz/doc-huts/tarn-ridge-hut/ . The hut has suffered from extensive water damage. Consequently, as of June, 2024, DOC is reportedly going to remove it & replaced with a pre built hut, which is due to be assembled on site in the summer of 2024/25. Edit Hut

Mattress were clean. You could stay in the hut but the walls are covered in green stuff. I would stay there but in a very poor state

Loo with a view! A shining example for future long-drops to strive for. Hope the hut gets replaced and not just torn down.
